We are pleased to confirm a new three-year partnership with Bolt Burdon Kemp, a law firm specialising in serious injury claims, which builds on our shared goals to protect rights and improve safety in maternity care. The partnership includes a package of corporate financial support, fundraising activity, pro bono and in-kind support, and joint communications and campaigns, to achieve the following goals:
“We believe that too many women and birthing people in the UK experience maternity care that does not respect their basic rights. Our partnership will help us raise the profile of these issues, campaign together to achieve change and enable Birthrights to reach and support even more people.”
Since April 2020, Birthrights has responded to over 900 advice enquiries from women, birthing people and their families. Their online resources have been viewed over 200,000 times, with dedicated information on rights during COVID having over 16,000 views. Qualitative feedback shows individuals highly value this information, support and advocacy. The partnership with Bolt Burdon Kemp will help Birthrights to reach even more people and equip them to secure their rights in pregnancy and childbirth.
Amy Gibbs, Chief Executive of Birthrights, said:
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Bolt Burdon Kemp, which is underpinned by our shared commitment to promoting choice, dignity and safety in maternity care. As a small charity, this financial commitment over three years is invaluable. This new partnership will help us achieve our potential, invest in our core activities and put us on a firmer footing for the future. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to grow the profile and reach of our online advice and information.”
Olivia Boschat, Associate Solicitor at Bolt Burdon Kemp, said:
“We are extremely proud to announce the exciting news that Bolt Burdon Kemp has formally joined forces with Birthrights to support our joint mission to make maternity care safer. Bolt Burdon Kemp has a dedicated Women’s health team of specialist solicitors who sadly see too often the devastating impact mistakes in maternal care can cause to women and families. We are delighted to be supporting Birthrights to campaign and achieve better maternal care across the NHS by allowing women to have informed choice in their medical treatment. We look forward to a productive relationship with Birthrights to achieve our mutual goal of safer maternal care. ”
